Impact of geography Africa in a total has many different types of climates and geography. Central Africa also has a diverse landscape and climate. Central Africa includes the south part of the Sahara Desert, and the west part of the Great Rift Valley. It also sits on the equator and is drained largely by the Congo River.
Central Africa is located on the equator which makes it have wide plateaus that are smooth in the central areas and more rough along the exterior. The many plateaus in the region show a huge range in altitude. The highest point in Central Africa, 16,795 ft., is the Margherita Peak. Most of the terrain in Central Africa was shaped by climactic forces before humans even lived there. The most rugged terrain in Central Africa is found along the eastern fringe of the Congo basin, where the Virunga volcanoes form a mountain range. Also, ancient Glaciers played a role in shaping the Central African geography, and cut the Rift Valley into the border of the Congo. The most known geographic feature of Central Africa is the Congo River, which is second only to the Amazon. The Congo River is mainly navigable, except in a series of rapids in western Congo. Also, near Matadi, at Inga Falls the Congo is slowed by one of the world's largest hydroelectric dams. The region is marked by hot and wet climates on both sides of the equator. About 400,000 square feet of forest line the equator, and there are three different types of forest in Central Africa. The forrest are bordered by parts of savannah terrain that is speculated to slash and burn farming. One of Africa's most famous national parks is Virunga National Park. It is located within the border of the Congo. This national park is home to many types of wildlife. This incldes elephants, lions, hippopotamuses, warthogs, forest hogs, okapis, and mountain gorillas on the vaolcanic slopes of the reserve. This was a short explaination of the geoagraphy in Central Africa. WORKS CITEDhttp://exploringafrica.matrix.msu.edu/students/curriculum/m14/activity2.php

Imperialism Africa as a whpoe has been impacted by imperialism a lot. They have been affected by Europeans the most. Still today, Africa is affected by imperialism even though it is not as bad as it used to be. Imperialism was good and it was bad. Imperialism has affected central Africa greatly.
Colonialism was a vicious time in Africas past. It hit central Africa just as hard as any other parts of Africa. The African slave trade also hit central Africa and other parts hard. In 1562 Britain started the slave trade. Slave Trade increases significantly with the development of plantation colonies in the Americas. The slave trade in Africa was one of if not the worst part of African history and Imperialism. It was the bad part of Imperialism in African history. It destroyed many of the families in Africa and it still impacts the way people live and how people are seen in Africa. But the slave trade was not the only side of imperialism, it also had some good affects on central africa. When the europeans came to Africa, it was not very advanced or modern. When people think of imperialism in Africa, they only see the bad things such as slavery. People don't think about the ways that the europeans helped make Africa more modern and advanced. Many parts of central africa are still the way they were before imperialism, but there are some places that are modern cities today. Many of these places are modern because of some of the good things that the europeans did. If the europeans didn't do the good things that they did, then most of Africa would be in poverty today. European imperialism has had many different effects on central Africa in history. It has been bad with slavery, but it has been good with the modernization of many present day cities. Imperialism still has a very big part in central Africa today mainly with the the modern cities, but also with the lasting effects of the slave trade. |
